A&N tips for your introduction letter to the landlord

Please send your application letter with your personal introduction within 24 hours of the viewing, ideally in PDF format, to the email address provided by your rental agent during the viewing.

All applications will be forwarded to the landlord. You can expect a decision within 1-2 working days.

Please, note! Do not send any personal documents at this time. They will be requested if you are selected.

What do landlords want to know about their future tenants?

About yourself:

• Who are you? What is your name, age and language?
• Do you want to rent this property alone or together with someone? 
• Why do you want to rent exactly this property?
• What kind of person are you?
• What are your hobbies?
• Do you have a pet? Are you planning to get a pet?
• Do you play any music instruments?

About your work and financial situation:

• What is your job?
• Which company do you work for?
• What kind of work contract do you have? (permanent contract for undefinite time / contract for a fixed time / you have your own company)
• What is your gross monthly salary?
• What is your annual taxable income? (salary, including holiday pay and eventually 13th month pay)
• If you are an expat and the 30% rule applies: please, indicate you gross en net annual salary.
• If applicable:
  Do you meet the requirements of the housing permit in The Hague? Is your gross annual income below €62,191 (annual salary including holiday pay and eventual 13th-month pay)? (For more information about the requirements of the housing permit, click here)

If you want to rent the apartment together with a partner:

• Who is your partner? (name, age, language)
• What is your partner’s job? Which company does he/she work for?
• What kind of work contract does your partner have?
• What is your partner’s gross monthly salary?
• What is your partner’s annual taxable income?
• What kind of person is your partner?
• What are his/her hobbies?
• If applicable:
  Do you and your partner meet the requirements of the housing permit in The Hague? Is your gross annual income together below €82,921 (annual salary including holiday pay and eventual 13th-month pay)? (For more information about the requirements of the housing permit, click here)

For sturentds:

• Who can vouch for you? Who could be your guarantors?
